Some of these topics do have overlapping content areas, so you can easily blend those to create a different topic. After you decide on a general idea, you are able to move to the more important details - the content itself. Mind to use hooks that will involve the audience in your piece.   In case you have no idea what could serve you as an attention grabber, we have made a list of 10 facts you could insert in your paper. Sample Essay on How Responsibilities Should Be Divided Among a Team? When a team begins working on an important project, there is a lot for them to consider. It is usually required that they break down the different elements and discover a logical solution. Once they do this, they also need to distribute the workload. It might seem easy to just assign each team member a task and get to work. But, this is not the most effective way to accomplish a task, and there are much better methods to turn to. One of the best ways to assign responsibilities for a project is to evaluate the team members’ individual skills. Each of them should have their own skill set, such as technology, writing, or design. In addition, some members might have more specific skills. This might be based on their actual job title, their interests, or their personal experience. Giving people the tasks that they are most familiar with is important for a number of reasons. First, this will save time. If someone agrees to a writing task that is a piece of the whole project, they have to be aware of the proper etiquette of writing. Perhaps, they have written something of the same nature before. The same goes for someone who offers to design an image or a handout about the project. This will help cut down on time spent on the research. This will also provide team members with the opportunity to work on what they are passionate about or what they truly care about. Sometimes, the skillset is just too narrow. This happens usually if every employee is knowledgeable about the same topics or where there is a limited number of employees working at a team. There might not be a team member who is experienced in computers or coming up with budget details. This can leave teams in a tough spot with an important position to fill. This does not have to be difficult though, as there are ways to accomplish the tasks without seeking more team members. That is definitely an option, but it does not have to be the first one. Team members can come together to apply the basic knowledge that they might have in the needed area. From there, they can all work to dig deeper and understand the other concepts. A team might also decide to assign the research portion to one or two of its members. This can take a lot of time, especially if it requires the team members to learn how to utilize the new information right away. This means that these individuals should not be given much other work, which will give them adequate time to learn the new skills. If the project has equal opportunities for everyone involved, this is ideal. This is a good place to narrow the project to the areas where each person has a task that is related to the overall skills of the team. Additionally, this allows for proper fact-checking and revisions. If each member is an expert in the project, they will be able to verify the information for accuracy. Sometimes, it becomes necessary to look for extra help outside of the office or team. This is a good way to ensure the expertise is going to be brought to the table, but it can be costly. This should only be considered if it fits into the project’s budget. Overall, there are a few ways to assign responsibilities to different team members. If in doubt, teams can divide the tasks randomly and make changes if needed. It is a good idea to do this logically though, as it will increase the efficiency. Some teams will decide to outsource new members that have stronger skill sets. This is an excellent option if the budget gives the green light. References: Burke, R., Barron, S. (2014). 12 months exercise program to gradually cure hypertension and maintain Essay

12 months exercise program to gradually cure hypertension and maintain healthy for a man over 72 years - Essay Example Blood pressure is controlled by life style changes which include diet, exercise and medication (Oh 2012). Physical activity is a key factor in helping reduce high blood pressure as well as reducing high cholesterol values in cases of obesity and this helps improve blood circulation in the tissues and this means proper supply of oxygenated blood in the tissues and hence improving the performance of the heart muscles. According to the case study of Mr. A, he is currently inactive since the kind of excise he used to do was to walk around with his dog that died and since then he has been inactive, and the only leisure he does is watching TV. The aim of this initial stage is to begin the exercise while taking it slow. This may include; This involves the lengthening of muscles. Stretching the muscles to lengthen the arms and leg muscles before exercise may help prepare the muscles for activity and help reduce muscular pains and injury (Becker 2001). Regular stretching will help improve the range of flexibility and also motion. For Mr. A, who has been inactive since his dog passed away, it is imperative for him to begin with stretching of muscles before he begins walking again of doing active exercises again. Climbing the stairs may require his leg muscle stretching to avoid pains and muscle pulls (Oh 2012). However, the initial exercise stage should not be vigorous. For the movement pattern, Mr. A, should warm up for 5-6 minutes involving single joint and stretching exercises. This will involve such exercises like cardiovascular or aerobic exercises which are steady exercises that will involve using large muscle groups. This exercise type is aimed towards strengthening the heart muscles and also the lungs and ultimately improving the general supply and usage of oxygen to the tissues (Becker 2001). Continued aerobic

658 week 10 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

658 week 10 - Essay Example As it grows, it continues the learning process through these two fundamental methods. Through experience and instruction, an individual learns to acquire his needs from the environment. Since what a person learns is a function of their environment; the culture, society, or politics of the day will have a huge bearing on what a person can learn, unlearn, or relearn. All previous cultures and civilizations that have been experienced throughout the ages have had massive bearing on the populace behavior. The ancient Roman civilization was a republic complete with representative from every corner of the civilization. The concept of a republic complete with democratic institution was a reality. Our current civilizations borrow hugely from the Romans. This work will endeavor to interpret influences that create an individual and the social and political influence of our classrooms today. In the ancient Roman civilization, both during the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, culture, society and politics played a huge role in the education system. The ancient Roman civilization political elite such as Julius Caesar, the Senate, Emperor Augustus, Constantine etc. were constantly involved in campaigns and conquest that had huge implication on the education system of the day (Zumbusch, 2014). These conquests and campaigns brought many slaves to Rome, some of whom played a role in the education system of the Roman civilization. Romes education system borrows massively from the Greek culture. Many Greek slaves and freemen acted as tutors. Livius Andronicus, a Greek captive from Terentum provides a classic example. As a slave, Andronicus tutored his masters children while as a freeman, became the first private tutor in Rome (Zumbusch, 2014). Ancient Rome society was composed of rigid social structure, which included the elite and the commoners. The elite were mostly successful merchants, rulers, priests and nobles. The commoners were mostly composed of farmers and laborers.

Metaphysical Thought Of Thomas Aquinas Philosophy Essay

Metaphysical Thought Of Thomas Aquinas Philosophy Essay Each science studies beings in a specific and determinate way. According to Aristotle, metaphysics studies the being in general, leaving aside their particular determinations.  [1]  Metaphysics thus, studies being qua being and what belongs essentially to it.  [2]  One of the concerns of metaphysics is what Aristotle termed as substance to indicate what, in fact, has existence in time and space, being subjected to the action of natural laws. Aristotle says: Clearly, then, the investigation of all things qua things belong to one science. Now in every case a science is concerned mainly with that which is first, both as that on which the others depend, and as that through which the others are named. Accordingly, if this is a substance, it is of substances that the philosopher should possess the principles and causes.  [3]   According to Aristotles metaphysical account, there is a distinction between what is apprehended by intuition and what is grasped by the intellect, between substance and essence. He says: Substances are also the parts which are constituents in substances taken in the first sense, which limit these substances and indicate a this, and without which the whole is annihilated. () The essence, whose formula is a definition, is also said to be the substance of each thing. The term a substance, then has two senses: it means the ultimate subject which is not predicated of something else, and also that which is a this and is separable, such being the shape or the form of each thing.  [4]  For Aristotle, substances are related to what exist in fact in the world, and about essence it is possible to say that, despite of the fact that it is part of the determination of the being, it has only conceptual existence. Aquinas adopted some of the presuppositions from Aristotles metaphysics in his ontology: such as all other sciences, metaphysics is causal, since it studies the principles through which beings are what they are.  [5]  Furthermore, Aquinas had to redefine some aspects and terminology of his predecessors in order to create his own metaphysical account. Staring with entia, given in sense experience it should be called substances. Each substance forms a complete whole, endowed with a structure that constitutes on ontological unity, or a unity of being. Insofar as a substance can be understood as one and defined, it is given the name essence. Essence is only substance insofar as it can be defined, it is what the definition says substance is. This is also a description of reality.  [6]   In Aquinas study of metaphysical beings, it is possible to assume that they can be analyzed in two distinct ways: as having a determinate form which distinguish themselves; or as existing in a strict sense, called respectively essentialist and existentialist perspectives by F. C. Copleston  [7]  . Considering the essentialist approach, Aquinas affirms that all beings have an essence which establishes a certain form to these beings: Because, a being in this sense is divided by the ten categories, essence must mean something common to all the natures trough which different beings are placed in different genera and species, as for example humanity is the essence of man, and so with regard to other things. Because the definition telling what a thing is signifies that by which a thing is located in its genus or species, philosophers have substituted the term quiddity for the term essence.  [8]   Considering the second way, the existentialist approach, beings existing in a strict sense, it is possible to realize that this book or this man are actually part of this world, inserted in space and subjected to the natural and causal laws. Here Aquinas makes a distinction between essence and existence. Therefore, after looking for reality in the sensible qualities of beings, then in their essences, then in their substances, philosophy had finally realized through Aquinas that true reality is actual essence.  [9]  Having an essence, means being able to be inserted into a genre and be part of a species through a specific difference. One can note that, given elements actually exist in time and space. Armand Maurer explains that Aquinas intends to expose the meaning of the terms a being and an essence, how being and essence are found in the different orders of reality, and the relation they have to our logical notions of genus, species and difference.  [10]   According to Gilson, existence is a condition for being, essence and all that can be studied by metaphysics and the core of reality. In Thomas technical language, the term esse means actual existence. It is the way a thing, which he calls res, is a being, an ens. It is to be that makes a certain thing to be a being. Esse is defined by its essence, namely that which the thing is.  [11]   By essentialism, it is possible to answer the following question: what something is? The definition, so states the essence of beings in general. For material substances, essence means the matter form composite subject to perception. Aquinas makes an analogy of the terms essence and existence to what Aristotle had made to the terms potency and act. Thus, the essence is the possibility that something determined to come into existence. By existentialism, the existence, in turn, is the upgrade of essence. This distinction between essence and existence as occurs with matter and form, act and potency, it is a logical one. Aquinas says: Everything that receives something from another is potential with regard to what it receives, and what is received in its actuality. The quiddity or form, therefore, which is the intelligence, must be potential with regard to the being it receives from God, and this being is received as an actuality.  [12]   Copleston explains that essence is that which answers the question what a thing is; it is substance considered as definable. It is clear that essence is that which is signified by the definition of a thing. In the case of material things the word essence signifies that which is composed of matter and form. Existence, on the other hand, is the act by which an essence or substance is or has a being. Existence denotes a certain act; for a thing is not said to exist by the fact that it is in potentiality but by the fact that it is in act. Essence is the potential metaphysical component in a thing, while existence is the act by which essence has being.  [13]   After having analyzed Aristotles and Aquinas concepts on essence and substance, it is possible to realize that Aquinas starting point to his metaphysics is Aristotles ontology, which is based in the doctrine of being qua being, or substance, the primary kind of being. From the distinction between essence and existence, as understood by Aquinas predecessors, such as Boethius and Avicenna, Aquinas goes beyond the Aristotelian metaphysics, to show that the final foundation of the ontology is not the substance but existence. Thus, St. Thomas establishes the metaphysical assumptions necessary to built his own metaphysical thought. 1,371 words

The Relationship of Allegory of the Cave to Learning and Education Essa

The Relationship of "Allegory of the Cave" to Learning and Education The "Allegory of the Cave" is Plato's attempt to explain the relationship between knowledge and ignorance. Starting with the image of men in fetters that limit their movement and force them to look only ahead, this is the idea that all men and women are bound by the limits of their ignorance. Men and women are restricted by the limits of the education of their parents and the small amounts that can be culled from their environment. Images and shadows are representations of those things surrounding us that we see but do not understand because of our limited knowledge. As we obtain the ability to see things more clearly in the cave that is our ignorance, we start to then loosen the fetters that bind us and investigate the objects and images around us with our newly acquired mobility. Eyes that have seen nothing but darkness for so long are now fine-tuned to see even the smallest glimmer of light, or knowledge, in the far reaches of the cave. Constantly moving and gathering knowledge we observe that we are in fact m...

Freedom: Political Philosophy and Current Societal Setting Essay

In our current societal setting we, as citizens, are essentially free. Many people have differing opinions as to what this freedom should entail. Americans have always stood their ground in the fight for liberties and privileges, both civil and personal, which we feel are deserved. This is a continuing scenario as cultural progression opens new doors for a variety of people. Many have written in the past concerning this topic. These writings are transcendent through time and are still applicable today. One noteworthy author who discusses freedom being Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Rousseau’s writings focus on the defining of what freedom is, how to acquire it and how to maintain that freedom once it is achieved. Countless times these works have been used as reference to help people make a more solid decision as to their own definition of freedom. I will be using these works to discuss my own views concerning this subject and how society today is affected by these different scenarios. Freedom can be defined in different ways by different people depending on their personal experiences and beliefs. Most people will agree that our society offers a freedom which is acceptable for comfort in their daily lives. Yet there are others who will note the underlying causes of restriction within our given rules and regulations. Our laws are given with the intent of protection of our fellow citizens and maintenance of peace. Many of these laws can be defined as upholding morality such as those stating that murder or thievery are wrong. Others are more susceptible to circumstance such as traffic laws. The latter may be considered by many as an infringement of personal rights and an annoyance. We are subjected to these rules by others who hold positions of power and many may feel their opinions are neglected when these are put into place. Even though the majority of these laws can be agreed upon as being right, we must obey those we do not agree with as well or face the consequences. Commonly debated laws include the legalization of controlled substances and restrictions of medical practices, such as abortion. According to Rousseau, â€Å"Just as the shepherd is superior in kind to his sheep, so, too, the shepherds of men, or, in other words, their rulers, are superior in kind to the peoples. † (Rousseau 60) I believe this to mean that only a select few are given the opportunity to actually instate certain regulations, while the citizens may or may not agree with them. This would be a definite violation of the peoples’ collective rights. Often times, people will follow these rules anyways in order to avoid the persecution that may accompany fighting against them. Others choose to take the opposite approach and make a stand against whatever power may be enforcing these unjust laws, regardless of consequence. People have, in the past, been able to make great changes by putting in the work necessary to accomplish this. In turn, many doors have been opened for groups that would have otherwise been denied. Rousseau also states, â€Å"Obey the powers that be†¦ no case will ever be found of its violation. † (Rousseau 62) As most laws do provide a sort of security for the general public, I feel that some sacrifices or annoyances are bearable and necessary. Achieving an ideal state in society is a difficult task and as a member of this society it is my responsibility to think of the needs of others regardless of my own preferences. The rules that are in place are there for good reason and ensure that other, more necessary freedoms are not violated. Often times in our society, the luxuries given are taken for granted. Many other nations are subject to difficulties and atrocities which the majority of us simply cannot relate to. It can sometimes be difficult to look past what we have in the way of rights and privileges. Also, for us to be free it is not enough that no one stops me from doing something I want to do. I must also have the means to do that. Even if no law prevents me from doing something, should I be unable to act in the chosen way because I lack the necessary education or resources? Certain laws such as taxes and fees for government processes are devised in such a way as to eventually come full circle and direct the benefits back to us. Many don’t agree with these certain taxations despite what was previously mentioned. Our roads, parks and other public works are a perfect example of what these laws provide for us. Laws such as these are necessary for the upstart and maintenance of comfortable living in our communities. It needs to be understood that we, as a nation, have such a great opportunity that many other nations and people in this world can only imagine. We must be careful not to let our freedom slip away as a result of that freedom being taken for granted.

INTRODUCTION With technology getting obsolete by the seconds, one wonders if there is any relevance to the future. Especially for the trendy hospitality industry, where the race is to compete in fulfilling guest expectations. These expectations are related to the product, its character and personality.Hotel and resort chains spend a tremendous amount of time and money in researching user-friendly technology to remain competitive. Hotels and resorts are going hi-tech in every area of guest experience. A quick review of the use of technology in hotels and resorts reveals an interesting conclusion. Hotels, which do not keep pace with technology, may lose their gues t base while at the same time, a traveler who does not keep himself updated with technology may feel out of place in hi-tech hotels. Most city hotels are well equipped with latest, state of the art technology. The future hotels might see hotel rooms with much more advanced technology. For example, hotels are now adopting biometrics technology. This technology uses voice, fingerprints or retina scan for personal identification, replacing the room key and combination safe in the rooms. One has to glare at the door to get it opened or, touch the biometric sensor to open the safe. Practically all good hotels have high definition television sets, but with the advent of 3D revolution, hotels will have to switch to new technology sooner than later. The same technology will also be useful for telephonic and video conferencing.Touch screen telephones, compressor free mini bars, in-room environment control, electronic do not disturb signs etc, have now become as part of granted features in the rooms. The introduction of Control4 is going to further revolutionize the hotel systems. Imagine walking to the door of the room, the system detects the person, turns on the lights, TV, sets temperature of the room, and awaits guest’s arrival at the door. The TV starts to play a welcome message or introduces the room features as they enter the room. The system also manages the wakeup call and do not disturb process.Future hotels are going to use room window glass as a TV screen. A switch will make the glass opaque and a projection system from the ceiling will start your favorite program on the screen with surround sound digital speakers. Today, hotels offer high-speed wireless broadband internet connectivity in the rooms with interface to the TV. Some hotels however, offer wireless internet in the entire hotel, in every nook and corner. One can use the laptop anywhere. Hotels also offer color-printing facilities from the laptop at a central printer in the Business Center.Roo m motion sensors detect motion and body temperature, and set the room parameters to suit your body needs. If no motion is detected beyond a specified period, it turns off the air-conditioning, lights and TV. Timer settings are crucial for success of this system. For those who need to relax their muscles, hotels offer an electric massage chair in the rooms. No need to go to the spa for time strapped guests needing a quick fix. For satisfying a demanding hi-tech traveler, the art is to anticipate needs and tailor the product with such elements that satisfies these needs and wants.A few years back an hotelier could not have imagined a guest carrying his virtual office in his laptop, or his music collection in his i-Pod or MP3. Well, today he does. Hotels are therefore providing connectivity of these gadgets to the TV and sound system. Hotels are also providing connectivity cable to connect digital camera to the TV. The guest can view the quality of pictures in the privacy of his room. The bathrooms in hi-tech hotels are a delight to the eye and experience. Most hotels have frost-free mirrors, Multiple Volt shaver sockets, temperature controlled Jacuzzi. Rain shower and aqua massage systems.Heated seats for water closet and bidet are provided for additional comforts. A small color TV at the foot of the Jacuzzi and extension of room telephone. What one would see in the future is that the mirror will double as a computer screen and one could watch mails while soaking in the bath tub, sounds interesting!. The biggest challenge for the hotelier is to keep pace with technology. Implement technology in a cost efficient manner and to know where to draw a line. While being Hi-Tech sounds good, the concept also has a feel good factor, one must understand what and how much should be adopted in a hotel.Going green is another popular trend now, and not just in hospitality. But now, more than ever, resorts are jumping on the green bandwagon in a variety of ways. Be it organic sheets, using solar power or offering climate-neutral rooms, resorts are increasingly moving towards offering earth-friendly amenities. This is just a glimpse of different shades of technology being used or about to debut in hotels and resorts across the globe. The ultimate quality of the experiences and degree of satisfaction of hundreds of guests and visitors depends upon judicious and right use of technology. The smallest glitch in the system is enough to ruin the experience. The art is to anticipate the needs of tomorrow and provide them today, leaving one to wonder what happens the day after. II. COMPANY PROFILE Company Name: Marawi Leisure Park, Inc. Staffs Inexperienced staffs count on weaknesses of the hotel and resort. The action to be taken for further improvement is to hire knowledgeable, trained, and skilled employees for the quality and good results and to give more training. Furthermore, this will benefit the hotel and resort not just in sustaining their goals but also to exceed the expectations of the guests. Security of Guests and EstablishmentsBasically, the primary goal of the hotel and resort is to sell rooms, to provide fun and enjoyment, and to gain more profit. Excursionists and tourists who visit the hotel and resort must be given 24/7 security and safety while staying in the resort premises. To provide the 24/7 security and safety it is advisable to give more attention to the people who come in and out of the establishment. This way the visitors will be worry free while staying in the place. As a conclusion, we recommend to the hotel and resort the need for further management empowerment and innovative facilities to achieve the goals and objectives of the company.VII. RATIONALE AND LEARNING CONTRACT Essays - Reading, Education

RATIONALE AND LEARNING CONTRACT Essays - Reading, Education RATIONALE AND LEARNING CONTRACT My rationale is to plan meeting the learning out comes listed below. I wish to explore through an investigative study how a foundation stage teacher may support development of children reading skills. My Rationale is meet the following Learning Outcomes and explore through an investigative study how a foundation stage teacher supports the development of children's reading skills. 1. TO OBSERVE AND DISCUSS WITH THE TEACHER THE CONCEPTS OF DEVELOPING READING SKILLS IN THE FOUNDATION STAGE. When considering concepts of developing reading skills in a foundation stage environment it is important to find out which method of reading, out of the following is used. (1)'phonics method' (in which letter sounds are used), (2)'whole word' method (where children are taught to recognise words by their shape or link the word with a picture), (3)or 'real book method' (in which children are encouraged to recognise words in the same way they recognise other familiar objects,) is used. It is also important to find out how the teacher considers children's existing reading skills and knowledge to build on when supporting them. Although children's early encounters with books are mainly sensorial, they gradually begin to show an interest in pictures and print in books. Whitehead (2004) The teacher should be aware of each child's prior knowledge and experiences in reading when they join the foundation stage. I also intend to learn how the teacher initially teaches them the concept of a word, how they learn letter sounds and how the teacher deliver the concept that print carries meaning. Learning to read is one of the major skills children acquire. It needs direct and planned support of adults. Therefore it is important to find out how the teacher as well as the TA or any other adult in the setting supports children's reading. For instance, do they read with the children at all times or do they help only with difficult words? When the teacher read a story to the whole class what strategies does she use? How does the teacher or other adults comply with a child's request to read his/her favourite book at a quiet or individual reading time? Reading skills involves not only the concepts of words and sounds but others such as holding the book the correct way up, turning pages and reading from left to right and top to bottom are also important skills to be developed. Another aspect I would like to discuss and observe is the time programmed or planned for children to engage in reading each day and during the week. I would also like to find out whether the teacher adopts other strategies as use of puppets and whether children are been encouraged to retell stories in order to support the development of reading skills in the foundation stage. 2. EVALUATE STRATEGIES WHICH SUPPORT FOUNDATION STAGE CHILDREN TO PROMOTE THEIR READING SKILLS. Here I would like to analyse the information I gather from the observation and discussions as well as from background reading in order to find out how practical my findings will be. The following strategies will also be evaluated after observations. A child's home as well as school environment plays a vital role in promoting his/her reading skills. Reading stories is an important early literacy event for children. It is initially up to the parents then teachers to support children's reading skills by providing appropriate resources and opportunities to read at an early stage. Through story reading children get the opportunity to recognise words in print. Using books with many colourful illustrations will inspire them to relate to the story and also try on their own to make connections with the words. Retelling or re-reading a story will enable them not only to recognise certain words but the characters and events of the story as well. Here they will also recall certain rhyming or familiar words. It is also important to learn the correct sounds of letters. Singing or reciting rhymes along with good listening skills will enable children to use correct sounds. This will help them when forming words. Another strategy which promotes children's reading is print seen in other contexts such as environmental print. Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage.(2000) These enable children to recall familiar words. Teachers and other adults can support children's reading skills and develop an interest in books by reading to them and answering their various questions. According to the curriculum guidance the language skills for reading can be enhanced through story telling, or by using puppets when telling stories. Adults also act as role models by engaging in different reading activities such as reading newspapers

Fundamental Perspectives and Techniques of Decision Making Dissertation

Fundamental Perspectives and Techniques of Decision Making - Dissertation Example In the contemporary uncertain business contexts, making a decision which has certainly long-term implications on business requires thorough understanding of all possible future situations and more importantly the managerial ability to balance both controllable and uncontrollable parameters (Bhushan and Rai, 2004, p. 3). Managerial decisions are key factors to influence a firm’s success and failure. Managers need to ensure that their firms are able to continually innovate and get accustomed with changing business environments so that it can maintain a reasonable stance and pace in competitive edge. If managers want their firms to survive in the dynamic and uncertain business conditions, they need to carry out effective decision making processes. ... Creative thinking aims at bringing newer ideas whereas problem solving is directed to find a solution, an answer or a conclusion (Adair, 2010, p. 1). An individual or organizational decision is the end result of much more dynamic processes and a series of activities labeled as ‘decision making’. McGrew, Wilson & Wilson (1982, p. 5) stated that the decision maker, in his decision making process, identifies the problem, clarifies particular goals that are desired, examines various possibilities for achieving the desired goal and finally completes the process by taking a definitive choice of action. Decision is therefore an answer to a specific question or some problems or a choice between two more courses of actions. Ahmad, Hasnain and Venkatesan (2012, p.21) described a five-stage process for decision making. It comprises of identifying all alternatives, valuing these different choices according to preferences and potential outcomes, assembling the information, choosing a mong the preferences and outcomes and finally selecting the most favourable and appropriate choice. Decision that has been taken after careful coordination of information, evaluation of potential outcomes and analyzing of various preferences based on advices, suggestions and help of people involved as members in a group-decision making has been found to be very effective in terms of its appropriateness and positive outcomes. Decision making is a cognitive process that involves logical reasoning and creative thinking about choosing a specific course of action that is supposed to bring the decision maker to a certain result. One of the key challenges in decision making is reducing or eliminating the uncertainty. A better way to avoid uncertainty is to collect relevant information before

Asian Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Asian Management - Essay Example In this context, the management has to be reformed in order to meet the requirements set by the constantly changing environment. Currently, management presents two forms covering the needs of privatised sector and SOEs. Under these terms, SOEs are subjects either to the line system (depended on the central industrial ministry) or the block system (representing the local government institutions). As of the main industrial areas in which SEOs operate, the following ones can be used as an indicative sample: oil, telecommunications, aviation, power and steel. The role of the management team to the performance of the above organizations has been considered as significant, however the presence of particular elements (like the close dependency from the central government or the use of a highly bureaucratic system when applying the managerial plans in practice) often create a net of negative influences to the management’s daily operations. In the modern industrial and economic environment, governments not only ‘shape their countrys economy but also their culture and penetrate deeply into the dynamics of organizations’. Moreover (Tjosvold, 2002, 741) organizations must be understood ‘within their larger context, in particular in terms of their dependence on government’. In this context, facilitative governments are ‘supportive of independent organizations, operate through predictable laws and regulations, and are strong, whereas nonfacilitative governments are hostile, erratic, and weak; organization and management in the embrace of government shows that nonfacilitative governments require managers to accommodate to complex dependencies’. Particularly regarding China, managers in private companies, ‘unsure how to cope with many vague and contradictory laws, indicated that they were dependent upon the good graces of government officials more than established state-owned enter prises (SOEs)’. On the other hand it has been proved (Zhu, 1994, 1, 12)
